Let’s cultivate today for tomorrow
The government of Sri Lanka has launched an ambitious cultivation drive to ensure food safety of the nation in the wake of Covid-19 global pandemic.
With the objective of bolstering this programme launched island-wide under the theme of “Let’s cultivate today for tomorrow”, the Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Housing Facilities has decided to expend this programme to cover condominium properties.
Accordingly, making maximum use of the limited spaces available in condominium properties horizontally and vertically, cultivation activities should be carried out under the patronage of the Management Corporation.
Methods such as cultivation towers, use of bamboo poles, soil bags, cultivation racks, cultivation walls and pot farming can be employed and using your creative abilities, iron stands may be used vertically and horizontally to hold cultivation containers for the effective use of the available space in the condominium property.
In carrying out such cultivation activities, special attention must be paid to the safety of lives. You should not allow your cultivations to be breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes and it should be ensured that emergency fire exits and common elements are not blocked.
Arrangements have also been made to provide you with necessary instructions through the Department of Agriculture.
